How I quietened an air pump :)

My tank sits between 2 windows. So I took 2 standard curtain pins, hooked them in the curtain and simply hung the pump on them. It's about 6" above the tank and very quiet

    Thx,

    dave

    Ingenious!

In the past I have sat airpumps on bits of foam, that seemed to drown out allot of the vibration aswell.

I got so fed up with the drumming noise that I drilled a hole through the wall and put the noisy pump in a box outside. Now the bubbles are making too much noise!
How much air is needed in the tank? The more air I put in the tank, fish love it.

    lol, that's what I call over-engineering!

For general useage, you shouldn't really need an air pump in a tank, although as said, the fish may prefer it. It will however deplete the amount of CO2 in the water, so your plants will not love it but it doesn't really make a huge effect unless your planning a CO2 inject, 10wpg forrest!

    Thanks,
    Chris
